Grand Canyon by Helicopter

So way back in February, Presidents' Day weekend, we took a little trip to Vegas to visit my sister and her cute family. Friday we got in really late and were just about to fall into bed when it was announced that we would be taking a helicopter flight over the Grand Canyon in the morning. We were way excited, the joy waned a bit when my brother-in-law announced we had to be to the airport by 5:30am. I am not a morning person. Despite my grumpiness and the few hours of sleep, we arrived at the airport on time to be weighed. That's right weighed, not a fun wake up call. Luckily it only required standing on a tile with a weight under it installed in the floor and the guy at the computer only snickers a little bit as he reads the digits on his screen.

Anyways so they flew us to the South rim airport in a small plane that made the creepiest noises and felt like it was going to rattle apart on take off and landing. We flew over the Hoover Dam and many other beautiful sites. I was sad because they seated Sam all the way in the back and I was all alone on my two seat row.

Upon arriving at the South rim airport we learned that the temperature was about 9 degrees. Um brrr. Luckily we were able to wait inside and by the time we got in our helicopter it had warmed up a bit. The helicopter flight seemed short but it was pretty awesome.

Another day of our trip we drove to the strip to see the Bellagio fountains. Sadly we missed the fountains but the inside of the Bellagio was amazing! They were all decorated for Chinese New Year with thousands of flowers and lanterns and children made of flowers. It was pretty impressive.

It was great to go see family, have such an awesome experience of touring the Grand Canyon by air, and seeing the impressive sites at the Bellagio. Thanks Dave and Michelle! (and Mom for coming with us)
